Two Redditch members - Steve Crockett and Tom Robinson - entered the Leamington Rapidplay tournament today with both finishing second equal in their sections (Steve in the U110 and Tom in the U170) with scores of 4.5/6. The similarities didn't end there either as both achieved their results through three wins and three draws. Tom's results included a victory over Quinton Lip and Steve picked up a fantastic win over section winner and rising young star Robert Ashworth. Redditch's own opening quickplay begins on Tuesday with the traditional season-opening Phil Church tournament. The club will open from 7:15 at the address in this blog's header. We saw three joint winners last season in Irina Amelkina, Rob Mitchell and Dave Spowart. With Irina and Rob having departed the club, will Dave retain the trophy outright? All will be revealed on Tuesday!
